Hi, My name is Bill Harris. My dad Monroe Harris started this company back in 1959. At that time it was called Harris Remodeling. Dad did mostly residential remodeling. I started working for him in the summers back in High School, although I did tag along with him at times my entire life. I recall being maybe 5 years old with a rag in my hand industriously polishing tile, sure that this made me a big boy indeed. After dad passed away I started to become more involved in commercial work. As the company got larger I found that I was losing the parts of the business that I enjoyed. Working with people to design and build rooms that made an impact in their lives was where my heart was. In the year 2000 I recommitted the business to residential design build work and increased my design capabilities. I design in a graphic design program that allows my customers to see their projects come to life on the computer screen. My dad was a firm believer in old fashioned craftsmanship and taking time to do things the right way. The importance of craftsmanship and having pride in your work were ingrained in me from a very young age. The name Designcraft reflects my commitment to these key areas. I once had a customer ask me why I was touching up a part of the project when he hadn't seen any flaws. I tried to explain that I had a long time ago stopped building to my customers standards. I build to my own conscience. I sleep well at night. I am building projects that would make my dad proud. |
